HINGED BOX PPA Manufacturing: Hinging Process
After the piece
has cooled down, the hinging process can take place. Hinging is the
process of setting up the metal pieces and the mechanism that makes
the 2 parts become one together. A metal ring composed of Brass, Copper
and Zinc is hand fitted to the pieces and welded together.
Then
the setup is put on a flat surface and flattened. A hole is made
between the two pieces to fit the butt-hinge. Then the butt-hinge
is welded very carefully to connect the parts, so that the moving
part can be installed properly. Then the closing button of the box
is welded on.
Now it's time for the finishing
touch, the old gold finish. The metal pieces are put in an acid bath
to scour the pieces. Then they are put in another special bath to
give them the final gold look. To finish this process, the pieces
are varnished and put back in the dryer.
