ARTIST THOUGHTS
Many collectors asked me question on my art. We are in a communication time totally controlled by technology; most of our contacts between humans are done through a computer prism. Because of that a certain style of thinking and intellectual processes are influenced by machine that are more and more sophisticated. But how far are we going to go? That’s why I paint open skulls open to future information. I also paint static body, where images replace emotions. I paint Masks, where the person behind is invisible because the people that are communicating are becoming invisible because of the high tech tools they are using to communicate. I project that entire imaginary world on a canvas in firework of colors. Color, I love colors, it is a game under my brush. I apply one color, then a second one, then a third one, but never more than three. I layer them out, change them, and that little game last for at least one month. Sometimes colors take their own surprising way, creating emotion, harmony and art are created. I never plan the color I will be layering. Like Corneille, Artist painter, said: “Francine Priston creates on her canvas static characters just like a wooden toy”. The mask is the main thread in my art because each of us wears a mask, afraid to show his real face. Some people mask hides another mask that hides another one . . . . Letting other people imagination make their choice on your personality. Everyone has its own sensitivity; feel or not feel is part of the game.
